The champagne house was founded in 1785 by german immigrant Florens-Louis Heidsieck, with the ambition to create a "cuvée worthy of a queen" for his beloved wife. He later presented his wine for Queen Marie Antoinette who loved it from the very first sip, and with that recommendation, the Heidsieck Champagne soon became famous and shipped to more than 14 royal and imperial courts from Europe to China.
The brand has since become closely connected to the movie universe. From being the first ever champagne bottle to appear on a movie screen, to being highlighted by Marilyn Monroe as being her favorite bubbles. Today, it is the official Champagne at Cannes Film Festival and the Oscars ceremony is celebrated with Piper-Heidsieck and Régis Camus’ prestige brand, Rare Champagne.
